Entrepreneur, Investor, Advisor

Boredom is the kiss of death, and nothing bores me more than standing still. My career has been one long balancing act of diving in headfirst, learning, and building—on repeat. From hurtling down mountains at 80 mph chasing the Olympic Ski Team, to working in the White House, to launching businesses from scratch, and pioneering open-ocean carbon removal, I’ve found my sweet spot at the intersection of complex systems and creativity—where the rules are still being written.

I’ve worn a lot of hats. I’ve been a near-professional skier, a public servant with Top Secret clearance, an advisor to CEOs, a logo designer whose work is seen by millions every day, a professional speechwriter, and a builder and seller of companies. I’ve advised Prime Minsters, I sit on the board of a furniture company, I created (what I believe to be) the first online ad targeting model for a campaign, and was once told by a nice Norwegian man that I could sell a car on the moon (I’m still not sure what he meant, but its seared into my memory because I then slipped and fell on the ice). I started my career on the 2008 Obama campaign, playing a small role in shaping how campaigns use data as a data scientist (before that word even existed), and later moved to the White House and Homeland Security, where I co-founded GOV.Data to untangle government tech silos (think untangling Christmas lights, but with more acronyms).

From there, I moved into the private sector, blending data, creativity, and strategy at SS+K with clients like Chevrolet, CAA, the US Green Building Council, and the Milwaukee Brewers. In 2013,I launched Coolhouse Labs with the idea of bringing big ideas to life in a small town, raising two modest venture funds and helping 17 first-time founders navigate the chaotic world of startups. Later, I co-founded Patch Capital Partners, an institutional real estate investment platform that leveraged data and an innovative home financing structure to invest in over 300 homes, delivering a +25% IRR while helping hundreds of homeowners stay in their homes.

Most recently, I led commercial operations and strategy at Running Tide, the world’s largest carbon removal company. There, I secured the first-ever open-ocean carbon removal permit, expanded operations internationally, and led a team that sold record-breaking carbon removal credits.

Now? Let’s just say I’m combining everything I’ve learned and working on something a bit more ambitious that can outperform yesterday. Stay tuned.
